Meet the Jo'Burg Crew (Well, the ones who live on my hall, anyway.)

Katlego, an LLB graduate from Botswana who likes to grab stone figures' butts.

Angela, a third-year student, is desperately trying to remain a vegetarian in a very carnivorous country. She is the "den mother" for the younger students (Angela is about my age, but everyone else is at least four years younger than we are.)
Sean, a first-year Seattle U. student from Singapore, has a penchant for saying very the wrong thing at the right time.

Brad is a first-year student at Kentucky who has traveled throughout East Africa (which makes me extremely jealous because here I am, nearly 30, and this is my first trip to Africa). He's one of two men on the program, and by far the most adventurous. I'd say he's adventurous -- he's the only man living on a hall with 6 women (and sharing a communal bathroom). Brave soul, he is.

Liz, a spritely Christian Scientist with a Midwestern quirkiness about her, is a second-year student at Oklahoma. She and I immediately took to each other, perhaps because we were the first people in the dorm on Saturday, but more likely because she and I are both like wild horses. When someone suggested that she settle down and start looking for a husband, she replied: "I'd rather chew my leg off." My kind of girl.

Welcome to Witts!

  1. My favorite is Sean. Hands down. He may say the wrong thing, but it's cool because . . . honestly, would you want a round-house to the face from that dude? No. You can see it in his eyes.

  2. Right you are, Eric! Sean went to military school in Singapore and has been serving in the military there since he was 17. He has mandatory duty until his 28th birthday, so he travels to Singapore for 3 weeks every year to perform his military duty.

  3. I didn't know you liked wild horses Kareema. I know where they are, Mulroy and I saw them in central Nevada a few years ago. You're really lucky to see them but I bet I could find them again.
